We are proud to be a member of the Sunrise Senior Living Education Foundation (SSLEF). The SSLEF was founded by Paul and Terry Klaassen in 1986. The foundation started with The Appletree School and Merritt Academy, adding First Steps in April, 2004. The SSLEF Board helps to oversee the schools, and to ensure the values and legacy of the schools founders are upheld.

First Steps is located on the campus of the Sunrise Senior Living corporate headquarters. The center was opened to be able to offer the following to Sunrise employees:

• Quality care and education that is equivalent to the other SSLEF schools.
• Close proximity to work, giving you the chance to visit your child throughout the day
