We believe that in order for your child to trust First Steps and their environment, it is imperative that the teachers and administrators at First Steps have a great working relationship with your family. The following are ways we strive to ensure the development and strengthening of that relationship:
- Daily Communication:
- Reports about your child will be sent home each evening
- Each classroom has a phone in it so you may contact your child and your child’s teachers anytime throughout the day.
- Face-to-Face communication between parent(s) and teacher
- Email system to inform our families of any announcments or teacher absences.
- Weekly Communication
- Weekly newsletters are written by the director to ensure any business issues are communicated with all families.
- Parent only portion of our website is updated weekly by teachers to inform families of weekly curriculm in each class.
- Open door policy for family members
- Feel free to come visit your child anytime throughout the day. We have quiet time for children older than one year old between the hours of 12:00 and 2:30. Please schedule your visit around this time so nap time is not interrupted.
- We have several families who come and have lunch with their children or come in to nurse their infants.
- If family members other than immediate family want to visit we will need a parent’s written permission and the visitor’s ID
to welcome them.
- Bi-yearly parent-teacher conferences give you and your child’s teacher a chance to get to know each other better and talk about where your child is developmentally, discuss issues of concerns you or the teacher have.
- Dry Cleaning Service: You can drop off your dry cleaning at the director’s office, we will send it out to be cleaned so that you can have one less errand to do and can use that time to spend with your child.
- Holiday events, field trips and concerts are offered and parent participation is always welcome and wanted.
