May I bring my child if they are sick?

We have parents in and out of the Center, often coming to peak in on their child, have lunch or just coming to read a story with their child's class. We require a child to be picked up within one hour of notification if they have any of the following:

  • A temperature over 100 degrees
  • Diarrhea more than one time in single day
  • Vomiting

Children should remain home until they have been on antibiotics for at least 24 hours or symptoms have cleared.

What happens when my child’s teacher is out for the day?
We make a special effort at First Steps to make sure all teachers know all the children in the Center and their needs. If your child’s teacher is out, either another teacher from a different classroom will come into cover or the director will.
